About Me
I am a Comparative Literature and Linguistics student based in Glasgow interested in a holistic approach to studying writing whether that be across countries, languages, time or medium. I am particularly interested in the notion that humans have always been people and that writing or subject matter that may feel foreign to us might be more relatable than we initially think.
I developed my love for journalism studying at the School of the New York Times with some of the most experienced and innovative writers in the industry and continue to develop my skill of exploring the world laterally as current president of the University of Glasgow’s Dialectic Society, the World’s oldest society dedicated to debate and public speaking.
Outside of writing and speaking I enjoy exploring all of the beautiful nature Scotland has to offer as well as listening and playing music and teaching myself new recipes. I hope to always be writing in some capacity whether it be poetry, journalism, non-fiction or creative and I am very excited to be a part of Zimmer, developing this skill.
In a nutshell
-
My favourite author
My favourite writer is Joan Didion. I find her half-journalistic half-personal (but always frank) writing style captivating as well as incredibly valuable when it comes to understanding the society we inhabit and where we find our place in it. I would recommend Slouching Towards Bethlehem as a first read as the best demonstration of her unique and eclectic style.

My favourite poet
Whilst not strictly considered poets I have always found so much comfort and insight in the lyrics of both Kate Bush and Joni Mitchell. I find their heartfelt and creative storytelling to be an underrated contribution to the literary world and would recommend them to any music lovers who deeply care about lyricism as a part of their listening experience.
